Travel Agent Federation of India sent a mail to Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola, Secretary, Ministry of Civil Aviation for the clarity on Refunds – LCC’s & others.
Given below is the letter.
To,
Shri Pradeep Singh Kharola,
Secretary,
Ministry of Civil Aviation,
New Delhi.
Dear Mr. Kharola,
Greetings from TAFI !
While the circular on the refunds from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA) was very limited in its clarity and support but at least some response was made as a start.
Specially considering that the Prime Minister & Government does not want people to Travel, unless absolutely essential, so what about tickets issued for forward bookings made for travel in May & June etc that passengers & groups would like to cancel in lieu of the call from the Government.
If refunds will have riders and not allow full refunds, it defeats the purpose of following the Government Guideline of reducing travel for only essential needs.
What the Travel Trade and Passengers need is a precise and clear understanding on what will be the refund policy by Airlines here ON and that requires MOCA to make things simpler to follow the Prime Minister’s advice of reducing essential travel.
Airlines are taking advantage of the present situation as they perceive our MOCA to be weak in taking the Airlines to task. We are sure you will not appear weak if you take a stand.
Regards,
Pradip Lulla
