Hospitality veteran and Managing Director of Shervani Hotels, Mr. S.M. Shervani, has announced his decision to step down from the managing committee of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI).
HRANI, the largest association in Northern India representing hotels, restaurants, and associated businesses across nine states, aims to create a growth-driven environment for the sector. Mr. Shervani's departure follows an impressive 35-year tenure with the association, which was founded by the esteemed hotelier, the late MS Oberoi.
Mr. Shervani, who also served as President of the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI), expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the association and reflected on his fulfilling career. "It has been a privilege to serve this esteemed association for so many years. My roles as its president and later as president of FHRAI, along with being a founding member of FAITH, have been significant milestones," he said.
He emphasized the importance of setting a retirement age for association members to facilitate the involvement of younger generations and ensure smoother transitions, while also reducing potential politics.
In his farewell message, Mr. Shervani extended best wishes to HRANI and FHRAI for the future, remembering colleagues such as the late Mr. Rajinder Kumar, the late Mr. Lamba, the late Mr. Sushil Gupta, and others including Mr. B.K. Gupta, Mr. Arun Khanna, Mr. Lalit Narula, and Mr. Suresh Kumar. He commended the young hospitality entrepreneurs who are making strides in the industry and encouraged their active participation in the association.
