The launch event took place at Hero MotoCorp's Global Centre of Innovation and Technology in Jaipur, where the motorcycle was introduced at an affordable price of Rs 2.29 lakh. This marks the first co-developed premium motorcycle under the licensing agreement between Hero MotoCorp, the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, and the iconic American motorcycle-maker.
Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the historical significance of Harley-Davidson as the most established brand in motorcycling. Munjal believes that the introduction of the X440 in India's premium segment will elevate Hero's overall strategy of premiumization.
The Harley-Davidson X440 represents the entry of Hero MotoCorp and Harley-Davidson into the 440cc segment in India. Co-developed at Hero CIT, the motorcycle will be manufactured at the Garden Factory in Neemrana, Rajasthan. Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President, and CEO of Harley-Davidson, highlighted the partnership's beginnings in 2020 and expressed excitement about launching their first collaboration in line with their expansion into new categories. The X440 will be available through Hero's existing network and beyond.
Zeitz also acknowledged the demand for Harley-Davidson motorcycles from a large customer base that previously found them unaffordable. He anticipates significant sales numbers from this particular product. In addition to the X440, Hero MotoCorp plans to launch a range of premium stores to enhance the premium brand experience and achieve its goal of 100 premium stores by the end of March.
Munjal considers the launch of the Harley-Davidson X440 a significant milestone in Hero's premium journey, establishing a solid foundation for future growth. The motorcycle combines the iconic elements of Harley-Davidson with Hero's manufacturing expertise and trusted quality. Together, they aim to create a unique value proposition for Indian customers and target a wider range of motorcycle enthusiasts.
