India is all set to host the much-awaited G-20 leaders' meeting at the swanky, refurbished International Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) complex in New Delhi's Pragati Maidan. The newly built International Exhibition-cum-Convention Centre (IECC) aims to promote India as a global business destination, equipped with world-class infrastructure for meetings, conferences, and exhibitions.
As the G-20 Presidency holder from December 1, 2022, to November 30, 2023, India seeks to boost trade, commerce, economic growth, job creation, and support small businesses through this prestigious event.
With an area of 123 acres and a cost of Rs. 2,700 crore, the IECC will be one of the world's top 10 exhibition and convention complexes. Its grand multi-purpose hall accommodates 7,000 individuals, surpassing the seating capacity of the iconic Sydney Opera House.
Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts towards the country's development during the inauguration of the convention centre. The IECC features a magnificent amphitheatre with a capacity of 3,000 individuals and ample parking space for more than 5,500 vehicles.
The building's design draws inspiration from India's traditional art and culture, with various elements representing the country's achievements in harnessing solar energy, space exploration, and rich regional art forms.
With its state-of-the-art facilities and aesthetic appeal, the IECC is poised to be a remarkable platform for hosting global events and showcasing India's progress on the international stage.
