InterGlobe Foundation, the philanthropic arm of InterGlobe Enterprises, has announced the launch of the InterGlobe HERITAGE Fellowships for 2024. These fellowships continue the Foundation's commitment to raising awareness, preserving, and promoting India's rich heritage by supporting the documentation and research of the country's built, natural, and cultural legacy.
The InterGlobe HERITAGE Fellowships 2024 invite applications from individuals to explore and document the 'associated intangible heritage' and 'craft traditions' surrounding India's iconic heritage sites. Submissions can include photo essays, written pieces, illustrations, and other creative expressions. A jury will select two fellows to investigate the living heritage linked to these sites, focusing on documenting ceremonies, rituals, festivals, and traditional craftsmanship, as well as local customs that enhance the significance of these locations.
Rohini Bhatia, Chairperson of InterGlobe Foundation, stated, “Understanding a monument goes beyond its physical structure; it involves connecting with the living heritage and intangible culture that enriches it. Through these Fellowships, we aim to empower individuals to explore and document hidden narratives, ensuring that our built heritage is celebrated and preserved for future generations.”
Launched in 2022, the InterGlobe HERITAGE Fellowships have strengthened heritage conservation efforts by providing a platform for diverse individuals to explore and raise awareness about India's cultural legacy. Previous projects included “Reviving the Lesser Known and Sidelined Musical Instruments” and “Traditions of Belonging: Tribal Life and the Jatharas of Telangana.”
Building on past successes, the InterGlobe HERITAGE Fellowships 2024 seek to uncover lesser-known cultural narratives within India's architectural wonders. The application deadline is October 31, 2024.
