The Ministry of Civil Aviation has introduced a draft bill that proposes a simplified approach to regulations in the aviation sector. The draft bill, named the Draft Aircraft Bill of 2023, has been developed after a thorough evaluation of the existing Aircraft Act of 1934.
The primary objective of the Draft Aircraft Bill of 2023, as stated in its preamble, is to establish an act that improves the provisions for the regulation and control of various aspects related to aircraft, including design, manufacture, possession, use, operation, sale, import, and export. The bill also aims to address connected matters concerning the aviation industry.
To gather public input and feedback, the ministry has released the bill for a 30-day period of public consultation, starting from May 30, as mentioned in a communication.
"The existing Aircraft Act of 1934 has been carefully reviewed, leading to the formulation of a bill that simplifies regulatory provisions, identifies existing redundancies, and incorporates provisions that align with the current requirements for regulating civil aviation using a simplified language," stated the ministry.
The preamble highlights the necessity to establish improved regulations and control measures regarding aircraft, encompassing design, manufacture, possession, use, operation, sale, import, and export. Additionally, it aims to eliminate any redundant provisions present in the Aircraft Act of 1934.
India is recognized as one of the world's fastest-growing civil aviation markets.
