festivals of
Uttar Pradesh have always been a moment to be cherished. These festivals are full of messages depicting one or more aspects of human life, relationships or ancient traditions. Many of these festivals such as Buddha conclave, Writers conclave, Shilp Mahotsav, Dev Deepawali, Baloon festival etc. are some of the popular festivals especially celebrated in U P with pomp are briefed below.
Buddhist Conclave
Buddhist Conclave is scheduled to be held from 3rd to 5th October 2016 at Sarnath which aim to showcase and project the Buddhist heritage and pilgrim sites.
Around 300 delegates from 70 countries are expected to take part in it. Tour operators and travel agents will also participate which leads to business meetings between the international and domestic tour operators and an exhibition highlighting the Buddhist attractions in India.
Writers Conclave
Writers conclave is scheduled to be held on 17th October 2016 at Varanasi. The event which aims at promoting tourism in the state and also taking to the international level.
The conclave will bring together experts in the fields of conservation, planning, food and architecture to help Uttar Pradesh build a road map that will help the state draw visitors from across India and across the world.
Shilpotsav Noida
Shlpotsav is scheduled to be held on 18th to 27th October 2016 at Noida. The aim of this Mahotsav is to promote handicraft and cultural activities of Uttar Pradesh.
The shilpotsav Noida is being organised by Uttar pradesh Tourism and contributed by Ministry of Tourism Government of India, Ministry of Textile and handicraft and Noida authority.
The extravaganza of ten days festival is coming up with 300 shops to represent the handicraft among which foreign handicraft also being represent by another countries as well like Thailand. During evening there will be very vibrant and beautiful cultural performance to represent the culture of Uttar Pradesh. There is a food court in the venue where one can enjoy the famous cuisine of Uttar Pradesh.
Dev Deepawali
It is being celebrated on 14th November 2016 at Varanasi.Dev Deepavali is celebrated on the occasion of Kartik Poornima when the Ghats of Varanasi come alive with thousands of Diyas (earthen lamps).
To mark the occasion and also to showcase the cultural heritage of Varanasi, the Uttar Pradesh Tourism department organizes a four-day Ganga Mahotsav around this period. On the occasion of the Ganga Mahotsava, reputed artists and performers from all over the country come and perform, making the celebrations more eventful.
Balloon Festival
It is scheduled to be held in the last week of November 2016 at Agra. This aim to boost leisure/adventure tourism and aviation based entertainment in the state, Uttar Pradesh.
Last year Festival featured 15 balloons from across countries like the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Spain and Germany, amongst others. Expert balloonists displayed their skills as the skyline of the ‘Taj’ city i.e. Agra dotted with colourful balloons. Regarded as one of the safest form of aviation sport, Hot Air Ballooning has been gaining prominence across the world.
