India’s Premium Hill Resort will host the seventh edition of the prestigious Namah Nainital Mountain Monsoon Marathon (NNM3), an event that sees massive participation of hill folks including industrial belt of SIDCUL. Held annually on the last Sunday of August, event brings some good news and vibes from the mountains to the rest of nation specially post monsoon deluge.
This edition in continuation with previous ones is likely to see some long distance athletes from countries like Ethiopia and Kenya along with Indian athletes and amateur runners will gather in Nainital to put their best effort.
Uttarakhand in recent times has given new hope to long distance running and walking events. This year at Rio Olympics, out of 4 sportsmen from Uttarakhand, three of them are representing India in 20 Kms Walking Race & Full Marathon. These sportsmen are Nitendra Singh Rawat (42 km full marathon), Gurmeet Singh & Manish Rawat (20 kms walking event).This event since its inception has been supported by Uttarakhand Tourism, Sidcul and The Manu Maharani Hotel in its previous edition. This year the event will have sponsorship by Namah, a premium luxury brand of DS Hospitality. The co-sponsor is Uttrakhand Tourism Department, they will be prize sponsors, the theme of the marathon is to promote Uttrakhand tourism during monsoons.
Mr. Manish Kumar, General Manager, Marketing & Sales for Namah says, “As privileged title sponsors of this annual running event, we at Namah are pleased to support organically growing event that supports local population interacting with senior national and international athletes in running a mountain challenge. which has uphill running of 4 kms besides 3 kms of flat and rest mix of downhill and flat in 21 km running event. Though lately ,Marathon or other endurance events are about more than the event, they have been representing a lifestyle, but Namah strongly feels that our Olympics medal dreams can be fuelled by popularity and participation of the budding youngsters in event such as this.” He further adds, this year we are doing geo targeting in across the hills of Uttarakhand to invite more participation and would campaign to get city people out of home to encourage our Runners. Namah feels that by supporting Nainital Monsoon Mountain Marathon, they have created an opportunity for meaningful and creative activation.
The district sports officer of Udham Singh Nagar, Mr.Suresh Pandey an international fame athlete, will also be the event director. The event is organized by NGO run2live, which is headed by Mr.Harish Tiwari, an international fame athlete. This NGO is formed with an aim to promote running and fitness. The first category is for male participants, the distance assigned to them is 21kms, the entry fee is Rs 500.The first prize is of Rs 50,000, second prize-Rs 25,000, third prize-Rs 15,000, fourth prize-Rs 10,000 and fifth prize is for Rs 5,000.
The second category is for female participants, the distance assigned to them is 10 kms, again the entry fee is Rs 500.The first prize is of Rs 20,000, second prize-Rs 10,000, third prize-Rs 7,000 and fourth prize is for Rs 5000.
There is a separate runner’s category for veterans, people above 45 years comes under this. There is a race for senior and junior school students.
First hundred runners will get the finishing medal. All runners who finishes marathon, will get a timing certificate along with 2 nights complimentary stay in Nainital.
