The Rath Yatra, a festival of great historical and religious significance to begin from June 20. It has been observed for thousands of years. It commemorates the annual journey of Lord Jagannath, accompanied by his siblings, from the Jagannath Temple to the Gundicha Temple, located approximately two miles away.
In line with the Rath Yatra in Jagannath Puri, the Shree Jagannath Swamy Ramgopal Trust has been organizing the Rath Yatra for the deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Goddess Subhadra every year. This tradition has been faithfully upheld by the Trust for the past 130 years from the Jagannath Temple at General Bazar in Secunderabad.
Also known as the Chariot Festival, the Rath Yatra is eagerly anticipated and widely celebrated. The grand procession involves the magnificent chariots of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra, which are pulled by thousands of devotees. Just like in Secunderabad, the Trust has been conducting the Rath Yatra regularly for the past 130 years from the Jagannath Temple at General Bazar, Secunderabad.
According to reports, the temple gates will open for darshan (sacred viewing) at 6:15 am and close by 1 pm. The Rath Yatra procession is scheduled to commence from the temple at 4 pm, passing through General Bazar. Subsequently, it is set to be at MG Road from 6:30 pm to 10:30 pm, before proceeding through Hill Street and Ranigunj, finally returning to the temple at around 4 am the following morning.
Purshottam Malani, the Founder Family Trustee of the Shree Jagannath Swamy Ramgopal Trust, kindly requests devotees to take note of the timings and plan their darshan accordingly.
