Union Minister for Tourism and Culture G. Kishan Reddy has announced that foreign tourist arrivals between January and April 2023 have witnessed a significant increase of 166% compared to the previous year. Reddy made this statement while addressing the 4th G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting held in Goa. He emphasized that post the Covid-19 pandemic, foreign tourist arrivals in India have surged, particularly during the aforementioned period, surpassing the figures recorded in the previous year.
Reddy further highlighted the historical significance of India as a destination for self-discovery, attracting travelers from around the world. He emphasized that India's rich culture and spiritual heritage have provided opportunities for individuals from 200 countries and diverse faiths to immerse themselves in the country's offerings.
The Union Minister outlined the government's current focus, which includes the creation of sustainable infrastructure to meet the growing demands of tourists. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of raising awareness among visitors regarding responsible consumption and adopting an environmentally conscious lifestyle. Reddy also mentioned the launch of the G20 Tourism and SDG Dashboard as a notable achievement, leaving behind a legacy in the tourism sector.
