Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Hon'ble Minister for Tourism, and award-winning author Shri Flavel Monteiro officially launched ‘SAVOR GOA: The Best Restaurants,’ a culinary coffee table book, at the Institute of Hotel Management (IHM) Goa. The event was attended by Shri Suneel Anchipaka, IAS, Director of Tourism, Shri Jack Sukhija, President of TTAG, and Smt. Dona D’Souza, Principal of IHM Goa.
The book explores Goa’s culinary landscape, showcasing 46 top restaurants and over 16 authentic Goan recipes. Spanning 190 pages, it highlights the fusion of traditional and contemporary cuisines, available in print and as an enhanced eBook with video content.
In his keynote address, Minister Khaunte emphasized the importance of celebrating Goa’s culinary excellence on World Tourism Day, aligning with initiatives like ‘Goa Beyond Beaches’ and promoting sustainable tourism. He noted, “Goa is becoming the food capital of India, with each village adding its unique touch to traditional dishes.”
Director Anchipaka remarked on the book’s role in reinforcing Goa’s culinary diversity and global positioning. Author Flavel Monteiro shared insights into the book’s depth, celebrating Goa’s rich culinary heritage.
The event also featured the unveiling of merchandise for the upcoming Yuva Tourism Clubs meet, promoting unity and sustainable travel. Shri Jack Sukhija praised the collaborative effort to promote Goan culture and cuisine.
Prizes were awarded to winners of a cooking competition, with dignitaries sampling the innovative dishes created by participants. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Smt. Liza Norton, acknowledging all who contributed to its success.
