Singapore Airlines has launched a new programme to offer its customers ‘Deliciously Wholesome’ meals, catering to the needs of an increasing number of health-conscious travellers.
A delectable range of new gourmet dishes, including hearty salads, rich in nutrients, vitamins and essential minerals, will be offered on Singapore Airlines flights as well as in SilverKris Lounges at Singapore’s Changi Airport. Some dishes have been specially created by the eight acclaimed chefs that make up the Airline’s International Culinary Panel.

“Our customers are increasingly health-conscious and we are pleased to offer greater choice and variety to enhance their dining experience when they travel with us. With these new dishes, customers can indulge in wholesome gastronomical treats that are not only delicious, but beneficial for their well-being,” said Senior Vice President Product & Services, Mr Marvin Tan.
The launch of the ‘Deliciously Wholesome’ programme is the result of an extensive meal development process, during which Singapore Airlines conducted focus group and food tasting sessions with frequent flyers.
Feedback from customers about the current range of in-flight meals was also taken into consideration. In addition, the Airline consulted nutrition expert, Ms Mayura Mohta, to review the recipes and analyse the nutritional properties of each dish. Ms Mohta is the author of The Heart Smart Oil Free Cookbook and The Wholefood Kitchen – Naturally Nourishing Meals for a Healthy Lifestyle.
“The new ‘Deliciously Wholesome’ meals are designed to restore and rejuvenate the body, especially on long-haul flights. They are prepared using a wide variety of carefully-selected ingredients such as whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, lean meats, fish, seeds, nuts, herbs and spices. These foods are rich in macronutrients such as complex carbohydrates, lean protein, good fats, fibre and healing phytonutrients that nourish the body. The dishes also contain special active micronutrients which can help alleviate travel-induced stresses such as dehydration, fatigue and jetlag,” said Ms Mohta.
‘Deliciously Wholesome’ meals will be served on selected flights departing from Singapore starting this month. Selected main courses will also be made available for pre-ordering by Suites, First Class and Business Class customers through the Airline’s “Book the Cook” service. Meat-free options will also be available.
Customers can choose from Western dishes such as Citrus Steamed Sea Bass with Lettuce Puree by ICP Chef Carlo Cracco – a nourishing dish that is high in protein and rich with healthy polyunsaturated essential fatty acids like omega 3 and omega 6. Asian-style meals will also be offered including Sousvide Miso Simmered Beef Yamato-style with Nimono Vegetables by ICP Chef Yoshihiro Murata – a delicately flavourful Japanese dish that combines iron-rich beef with the therapeutic effects of ginger and garlic. They can also indulge in delightful desserts such as Tofu Cheesecake with Citrus Compote and Watermelon Gelee with Mango.
