SWISS is now the Official Airline of all Swiss national football teams, further expanding its involvement in sports at the Swiss national level.
Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is to support the Swiss Football Association (SFV) with immediate effect, by providing a wide range of air travel services for all 13 of the SFV’s Swiss national football teams. SWISS will, for example, be flying the men’s “A” team to and from all their matches in the coming European Championship in France.
“As The Airline of Switzerland, it is particularly important to us to support football, which is one of the favourite leisure interests of the Swiss people,” says Markus Binkert, SWISS’s Chief Commercial Officer. “At SWISS we have a lot in common with sportsfolk, too: a passion for top performance, a focus on the details and a strong team spirit.”
“As in football,” Binkert continues, “it takes a real team effort to make an airline a success. So it’s especially appropriate that we should team up with the Swiss Football Association. We also conducted a special promotion on two of our flights on 20 and 21 May to show just how much our Swiss national footballers and our cabin crew staff have in common.”
“SWISS will be ensuring that our Swiss national footballers reach their destinations as comfortably and speedily as possible,” adds Alex Miescher, the General Secretary of the SFV. “And the excellent quality that SWISS offers in the air will provide our players with the best of foundations for delivering a top-quality performance on the pitch.”
Under the four-year partnership, SWISS will offer its services not only for the Swiss men’s and women’s first teams but for all 13 of the SFV’s national teams. “We’re extremely proud to support these players at these key moments in their careers,” says Markus Binkert. “And we’re looking forward with all the other fans to some unforgettable matches!”
SWISS supports other Swiss sports events and associations, too. SWISS has long been a supporter of key international sporting events held in Switzerland, such as the Lauberhorn ski races in Wengen, golf’s Omega European Masters in Crans-Montana and the Weltklasse Zürich athletics meeting. SWISS recently extended its sports involvement to the national level, too, and is now the Official Airline of Swiss-Ski, Swiss Ice Hockey, the Swiss Handball Federation and the Swiss Olympic and Swiss Paralympic organizations.
