In a significant move towards sustainable infrastructure in India’s aviation sector, Tata Power has entered into a strategic partnership with Noida International Airport (NIA) to integrate renewable energy solutions into its operations. This collaboration includes two Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) for wind and solar power supply, marking a milestone in the airport’s transition to clean energy.
The agreements were signed in New Delhi in the presence of key officials from both companies, including Sanjay Banga, President- Transmission and Distribution, Tata Power; Deepesh Nanda, CEO & MD, Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd.; Christoph Schnellmann, CEO, Noida International Airport; and Nicolas Schenk, CDO, Noida International Airport, among others.
Under the partnership, Tata Power Trading Company Ltd. (TPTCL) will manage the renewable energy supply for the airport. The company will deliver 10.8 MW of wind power from Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd. (TPREL) assets. Additionally, TPREL will install, operate, and maintain a 13 MW onsite solar power capacity, fulfilling a substantial portion of the airport's energy requirements. These renewable sources will support the airport’s goal of sustainable energy use, underlining Tata Power's commitment to green infrastructure in India’s aviation sector.
In addition to the energy supply agreements, Tata Power will develop critical electrical infrastructure and provide operation and maintenance (O&M) services for NIA over the next 25 years. The total investment in solar and wind power, alongside essential infrastructure development, amounts to ?550 crore (~$66 million).

The first phase of NIA, which includes one runway and terminal, will handle 12 million passengers annually, with plans to increase capacity to 70 million passengers per year upon completion of all phases.
