Robin Behl, founder of The Tribe India and a renowned movement practitioner, has successfully summited Mount Manaslu, standing at 8,163 meters. This incredible achievement not only marks a personal milestone but also demonstrates the profound power of mental resilience, physical endurance, and unwavering determination.
Behl’s journey began in 2016, when he first confronted his fear of heights by trekking to Everest Base Camp. That life-changing experience sparked his fascination with the world’s 8,000-meter peaks, culminating in his dream to summit one of them. In 2024, Behl took on Mount Manaslu, a challenge that would test him both physically and mentally in ways he never expected.
“This climb was more about overcoming internal barriers than just reaching the summit,” Behl explains. “The physical challenges were immense, but it was the mental and emotional strength that truly defined the journey. The hardest part was the descent—when I felt completely depleted, but the support of my loved ones and the belief in my dream kept me moving forward.”
Behl’s preparation for the climb began months in advance. As a martial artist and co-founder of The Tribe India, he already had the physical endurance needed, but he tailored his training to focus on joint stability, long-distance running, cycling, swimming, and mental conditioning through meditation, fasting, and ice baths. His mantra was simple: “Not today, Robin. You will not give up today.”
The final summit push was grueling—11.5 hours of climbing through freezing temperatures, vertical slopes, and darkness. The descent, which took 16-17 hours, was even more taxing, pushing Behl to his physical limits, leaving him hallucinating and fighting to stay awake. Yet, he drew strength from the voices of his loved ones and his unshakable belief in himself.
While summiting was surreal, Behl says, “It was the descent that truly tested me. The real challenge wasn’t reaching the top, but getting back down safely.”
This climb wasn’t just about physical triumph; it was a transformative experience. Behl emerged from the journey with newfound clarity, patience, and emotional resilience—qualities that will guide him in both his personal and professional life. “This climb reinforced the importance of preparation, self-management, and staying present throughout the process,” he reflects.
Looking ahead, Behl’s adventures may take him to even more extreme environments, from the deep oceans to the towering peaks of K2. Meanwhile, at The Tribe India, he remains committed to expanding the movement practice and helping others develop the mental and physical strength needed to embrace challenges of their own.
Robin Behl’s journey up Mount Manaslu is a powerful testament to the strength of the human spirit, proving that by pushing boundaries and facing our fears, we can tap into a well of strength we never knew we had.
