Tourism Australia and Air India have entered into a three-year marketing agreement aimed at sustaining and accelerating the positive growth in Indian visitors to Australia as Air India expands its operations in the market.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) outlines plans for joint marketing initiatives that will highlight Australia’s world-class tourism offerings and drive continued growth in visitor arrivals. Both organizations will collaborate on activities to promote Australia as a prime holiday destination for Indian travellers.
Phillipa Harrison, Managing Director of Tourism Australia, remarked, “We’ve witnessed significant growth in Indian arrivals to Australia, and we are committed to continuing this positive trend. Our partnership with Air India is a testament to our dedication to strengthening relationships and finding innovative ways to encourage Indian travellers to choose Australia for their next holiday. We look forward to working with Air India to further showcase Australia’s appeal.”
Andrew Hogg, Tourism Australia’s Executive General Manager for Eastern Markets and Aviation, added, “India is an incredibly important market for Australia, and we’re excited to collaborate with Air India to promote Australia to high-value leisure and business travellers. Together, we aim to sustain growth in visitor numbers from India while enhancing travel experiences and connectivity.”

Air India currently operates 17 weekly non-stop flights between India and Australia. In the year ending August 2024, the airline carried over 170,000 Indian travellers, securing an 18.5% market share, making it one of the largest carriers of traffic between the two countries.
