Despite global geopolitical tensions, aircraft production delays, and engine issues, Turkish Airlines sustained its growth in Q3 2024. The airline increased passenger capacity by 5.4%, carrying 24.5 million passengers.
In the July-September period, total revenues grew by 4.9% year-on-year to $6.6 billion, with passenger revenues accounting for 84% of the total at $5.6 billion, driven by strong demand from the Far East. Cargo revenues surged by 47% to $911 million, and Turkish Cargo became the world's third-largest air cargo carrier, holding a 5.7% market share.
Profit from Main Operations for Q3 reached $1.3 billion, with EBITDAR at $2.3 billion and a margin of 35.2%. The airline also continued to expand its fleet, adding 9% more aircraft to reach 467, despite production bottlenecks.
As part of its 100th Anniversary Strategy, Turkish Airlines aims to grow its fleet to 800 aircraft by 2033. It also entered sustainable finance, securing a sustainability-linked loan for two A321-Neo aircraft and financing three A350s in Chinese Yuan. The airline was recognized with three financing awards for its innovative funding strategies.
